Blog Marathon - Post 19 - Cough and Cold is in the Air

As I mentioned in the last posts, the month of February has been unexpectedly warm with sunshine and temperatures touching 14 degrees during the day. With the sudden change in the weather, the bouts of cough and cold also abound. On Monday evening, I had gone out for 2 hrs and hadn't worn the usual winter jacket or winter cap thinking it is sunny and the temperature is close to 10 degrees. This over-confidence gave me a mild headache and choked nose. I always look around the Germans dressed minimally in freezing winter sometimes and then try to be like them and act like them. But I forget that they are different and I am. I can never become one of them or like them.

They are born and brought up in this environment, they are used to this weather and they also eat a lot of meat which helps them to keep warm. I am a pure vegetarian and I am very sensitive to cold. When I am on road, I don't like my feet going cold and numb. Cheeks feel like they don't exist and feel like they are just lumps. Inspite of wearing hand gloves of the best quality and best price, the fingers start burning and I fear sometimes that they will just melt and fall off like that. No matter what you wear inside the jeans and trousers, the hips always get cold. All these years, I haven't really devised methods to keep myself appropriately warm in winter. I bought sweaters of all kinds, thin, think, different colored, but even those fail to keep me warm. I have bought the best shoes from a nice shop, but still, I literally get cold feet when the temperature is very low and I see people just wearing sneakers or sports shoes in minus temperatures.

I really wonder, what these people eat and drink. A says because I don't eat meat, I feel cold. I don't want to believe him. It is also said that women feel colder as compared to men. Is there any scientific backing to this? I googled and found nice explanations for the reasons behind it.

Have a read here:

So, it is proved that women feel colder than men. And I am trying out all methods to get rid of this heaviness in the head and the nose to be able to stand on my feet. I can't fall ill now. I can't afford to! Hope it gets better tomorrow.
