A left for a business trip to the USA and T and I didn't know what to do on the weekend. Lucia, my friend from Buddhist Chanting offered to spend time with us and suggested that we go out somewhere with T. There are many good museums in Karlsruhe, especially for kids. So I checked with Lucia if "Naturkunde Museum" (State museum of natural history) would be a good place to take T. Check out their website here https://www.smnk.de/en/ She said it's a good place to take kids where there were different exhibitions of animals, birds, dinosaurs, insects. They are not real, but they are a specimen and it's a huge collection which kids and adults enjoy equally! Then she told T that after a visit to the museum, we will go to a Cafe which has cats! I was surprised. A Cats Cafe?! Really?!
The museum was good, it's priced very fairly and it takes around 2 hrs to complete the tour. There were other rooms which had different themes, but we hadn't bought a ticket for it. And I was also not sure how much interest would T have to see a museum. So, in 2 hrs we got out and headed for the Cats Cafe. It was a very cozy place, not very big, but enough to host around 30-40 people. There were 6 cats in the cafe and the cafe was adorned with small nook and corners for the cats to sit and rest and there were also many different playthings for them. We ordered food, the pastry was awesome and the noodles with tomato sauce were a disaster. The staff was very friendly, they were dressed up as cats, had artificial ears and had worn makeup similar to a cat face. The owner was also taking orders and talking enthusiastically about cat behavior with others, telling them the history of the cats and the people were also taking interest in learning about it. After eating the food, T got busy with the cats and slowly he lost the fear and started stroking the cats and playing with them. He went to the owner of the Cats Cafe and asked for food to give them to the cats. Taking the cat food in hands, he fed 2-3 different cats and wanted to feed more. But I stopped him from doing so. He was running after them and he met one more boy with whom he was talking and trying to figure out different ways to play with the cats.
Cats have been around me when I grew up. I know their behavior and characteristics in and out. I love to play with them and watch them play with their tails for hours together. We had 3 generations of cats at our home and all those memories came back to me when I was watching those 6 cats in the Cafe.
We sat in the cafe for an hour and a half and when it was time to go, T wanted to stay there till the cafe closed. And he wanted to come back the next day again to play with the cats. I got out of the Cafe telling him that we would come back when A is back. He is asking me almost daily since that day, when can we go again. And I have been telling him that we will go soon, very soon.

Sounds like a nice place to hang out when the mood is low. Animals have this soothing effect on humans that not many realise. I think more places like the cats cafe should open up. They are not only great for kids but adults too,
