Blog Marathon - October 2022 - Day 1 - Forms of self-expression

How do you express yourself in cases of extreme boredom or when you feel low? Or when you are very happy and in a heightened state of awareness?

Writing is my solace. It's my escape room. I like writing about things, people, and experiences. I like to write short quotes, poems, and long and short accounts of everyday life. There is so much to observe and learn from the nature around us. It constantly evolves and often gives us the message that change is the only permanent thing in our lives. People are also often the best teachers, I think. How we interact with them and deal with them often leads us to get a better understanding of ourselves.

For some people, it might be dancing. Expressing through hand and leg movements along with gestures, and matching the beats requires perfect coordination. I know people who have dedicated their lives to dancing and when they talk about dancing, their eyes suddenly light up, and their passion for this art just shows how dedicated they are to it.

Singing is another form of expression which gives you a sense of peace and tranquility. Adjusting the vocals, and beats and singing the right notes is often not an easy task. But with practice and hard work, that is achievable.

Painting to some is an escape into an imaginary world, which is multicolored, bright, and brings different hues of their personality to the canvas. I envy such people who understand the chemistry between the strokes and colors so well!

Talking or venting out frustrations, and emotions could be a form of self-expression. But if it is too much, then the listener could lose interest or rather than just listening, could start giving solutions and advice. I think we all need to re-learn to be good listeners. We have lost that art and are very quick to jump to conclusions.

What other forms of expression can you think of?

What do you do to express small and big moments in your life?

Please mention it in the comments.
