As mentioned in the previous post, the temperatures have suddenly plummeted to one digit from Sunday, the atmosphere suddenly feels very heavy and grey. The clock changed on Sunday, where now the time difference between India and Germany is 4.5 hours. Due to the shift in time, it gets dark at around 5-5:15 pm, and suddenly the evening seems too long and dark till it's really time to sleep.
Yesterday, when I took T to the workshop, the people on the street were far and few, and they were all dressed up in different colors of coats and jackets. I was the only one wearing a winter cap. I am susceptible to cold. I don't really like being in the cold for long unless waiting for the bus or the tram to arrive. I went to the bookshop yesterday and sat there for a few hours, checking out the various books and observing people. There is a festive mood here as Christmas is arriving in some days. The shops are decorated with lights, and there are a lot of offers to allure the customers into buying things for Christmas well in advance. When one roams in the city center, it doesn't really seem winter there as people are busy and the market place is bustling. When one is at home alone, the winter really sets into the mind and the heart becomes heavy. One must be busy doing different things at home such as cooking, cleaning, writing, painting or even watching television.
While coming home from the workshop today, T mentioned that he was freezing. It's improbable of him to say that. He roams in a thin jacket in one digit temperature. But today he was wearing a winter jacket and a cap. He came home and was not his talkative self. He told me he was feeling very sleepy and that his eyes were burning. I told him to sleep a little, and he instantly went to sleep. The unusual silence in the house is not helping me on a cold day. I am constantly checking on him. I fear he might have caught an infection and is feeling feverish from inside. He even forsook his favorite TV program called Woozle Goozle and was just lying on the couch with his eyes shut. He had a little rice and then again sat quietly in one corner. Often, when the season changes, people fall ill. It's the body's way of adjusting to the changes in the temperature and the surroundings.
Life is such a paradox! He talks so much on other days that we ask him to pause a little, and today, when he was quiet, I was missing his usual chatter and questions. He slept off early today, and hopefully, he will feel better tomorrow.
