Blog Marathon - February 2023 - Day 14 - Workout challenge at Sneh Forum Germany

I have recently joined a group on Facebook called the Sneh Forum Germany. This group is exclusively for women and is a platform to seek information and guidance and also ask questions related to how to adjust to a different life in Germany, how to keep oneself engaged, etc. There are various experts from different fields who help women find answers to their questions. The questions could be of a serious nature or seek some simple information. Every question is welcomed here, and there is no shortage of positivity and readiness to help each other in this group.

How could the health enthusiast in me keep quiet? It had to do something with this group of around 400 women. So I asked the group if anyone would be interested in taking up a workout challenge for a month, and to my surprise, many women seemed interested. We formed a separate WhatsApp group for the participants and started the workout challenge on January 15, 2023. I posted a playlist of different workout videos for the ladies to get started. But it was not just this playlist that they could adhere to. They could walk outside, do Zumba, yoga, dancing, or whatever they enjoyed! It was critical that they took time out for themselves and their health, whether it was for 20 minutes or an hour. Activity and movement were going to help them in the long run.

We started with a bang. Many women started posting on the group about the daily workouts that they did. There were a few silent watchers and a few regular ones. We kept on going. I regularly checked in with the group on how they felt, what problems they faced, etc. Just because we had to post our workouts daily on the group, many girls worked out sincerely, even though they didn't have time or weren't motivated enough. The positive pressure of being accountable to someone made them take time and work out. It is great fun to be part of a group while working out. It otherwise gets boring. Not many women are self-motivated to get up and go out for a walk or do some exercises at home on their own. But when they have support in a group and know that others are watching, it gives them strength to get up and do something.

Though the challenge ends today, many girls from the group wanted to continue being a part of the WhatsApp group. So, we shall carry on with the group and post our daily workouts there. Whoever wants to be a part of the WhatsApp group can ping me, and I will add them to the group.

If you want to keep fit and age gracefully without spending money and time on doctors and hospitals, please start working out, dear ladies. Keeping healthy should be a priority for everyone, especially the women of the house, because if she is healthy and happy, her family and the surrounding area will be as well!

This is my sincere request to everyone. There is no shortcut to getting up and moving. You will only benefit from it in the long run. Invest a little time today and secure a long and healthy life.
