Blog Marathon Post 14 - Selfie lele re

Recently I came across a song from a Salman Khan movie which is "Selfie le le re" and it has become a craze among the masses. With no meaning or melody or soulful voice, this song is already topping the chart. This is not the first time that something like this has happened. What has happened to our taste :P

Selfie reminds me of the most widely used networking app, Facebook. Everyday there are 100 feeds from my friends and even from people whom I do not know with their selfies in front of a place, animal, monument, road, tree, almost anything. Self-love is good, but clicking pictures every 2 seconds and uploading them on the site and then waiting for people to like it and appreciate it!? Is there nothing else in the world to do than spend time here like this and wasting precious time like this?

When I was new to this social networking site, I was uploading photos of my very single trip too, but then somehow I got bored or matured, one of the two. I realized that no one is really bothered with what you are doing and would you really intimate the real world every 2 minutes when you go to pee or when you get stuck in the traffic or if you fall sick? Is it logical? Does it make sense? Isn't this a farce which we are creating around ourselves? A virtual world, where everybody is so caring and loving and appreciates your single post and likes it? Can't we talk to real friends by just dialing their numbers? Isn't it more meaningful?

Why not use this self-obsession in doing something for your own good or for the country? What benefit does it monetarily do to us if we upload a photo on the social networking site? Are the problems in your life solved by just remaining glued to the screens? You have to get moving and do something to solve the problems; virtual world will not really help you overcome them. I know you can get little help here and there, but that's it. Reading and using good information on the site and being just passive by liking other people's status updates are two different things.

Make good use of the time and resources we have got. Read something good, help somebody. Go for a walk, make friends, talk to them, cheer them up, watch kids’ play, watch some good movie, contemplate about giving a good and secured future to the coming generations, plant more trees, save water. There are so many things to do in this world than take a selfie and sit glued mindlessly to different screens.

The dilemma

My mother-in-law left for Pune today after spending two and a half months with us in Germany. And suddenly the house seems empty without her...
