Not my cup of tea

What do you do on a Saturday evening after dinner when you have nothing to do? You are feeling a little sick and have a throat infection.

You don't want to watch Television, there is nothing that interests you there and you are not feeling sleepy yet. You have finished watching your favorite serials on YouTube by forwarding them and watching a 21 minutes episode in 5 minutes. There is silence around you which sometimes gets into your head and you want to keep yourself away from self-deprecating and negative emotions?

You have never tried your hand at Painting because you believed you are very bad at it and you can never be a painter or an artist in fine arts for that matter. But suddenly someone somewhere mentions to you about painting with chalks and your interest suddenly gets piqued and you google and get all the information about it and decide to buy the basic stuff to start somewhere. You make an extra trip to a stationery store in the rains and get yourself some nice pastel chalks and a book to paint and come home waiting to try your hands at it. You start to slip into that dangerous pitch of depressive thoughts and you warn yourself. "You have better things to do".

You choose a time when the night falls and there is just the sound of your breath which creates an eerie atmosphere and gives you that extra boost to start something new and exciting. You google again to see which picture should you try your hands at which should be something very basic, yet beautiful. You still don't trust that you can directly try something complex, you know yourself too well, so you begin with something for beginners.

The sun has always been a source of inspiration for you and you try out a picture with sun and a hummingbird. A lone bird in search of nectar, it connects with you instantly and you start drawing the picture vigorously. It dirties your hands, the table on which you are painting, but you are really not bothered. You feel like a child who is taking the first baby steps into the world of painting and feels thrilled and excited about it. This is an avenue which you never ever thought of exploring and you slowly realize that it is fun and easy and not really difficult. You start with one and finish it in 15 minutes and you are extremely elated at your first creation. You don't want to stop at it, so you go ahead with one more picture, this one entirely from your own imagination. You try to show the land, the water, and the sky in one picture. That depicts your state of mind too. You sometimes want to soar high up in the skies, you want to be grounded at many times and sometimes you don't want to soar or be grounded. You just want to float there and go wherever the current takes you. And you create your own masterpiece. You are happy, elated and feel satisfied.

You want to dance, you want to sing. But you withhold. The granny who stays below might get alarmed by your action. So you write a blog post about it and publish your paintings on the blog. Those paintings are yours, you are the creator.

You, who believed, painting and drawing are not for you.
You, who always envied the painters and this form of creative art.
You, who never explored this facet of your personality.

You have now got access to one more deep delving ocean of creative arts from which you can create different things for your own happiness and never feel lonely.

The dilemma

My mother-in-law left for Pune today after spending two and a half months with us in Germany. And suddenly the house seems empty without her...
