Greta Thunberg, a Swedish student, is garnering attention all over the world for her global climate change awareness movement. A lot of support is pouring for the championed cause from all corners of the world. India is also undergoing a similar revolution. A campaign to revive the rivers - Cauvery Calling - Rally for Rivers. Sadhguru from Isha Yoga Centre is at its helm. He recently completed a 16 days tour in the Indian states to raise awareness about the depleting condition of rivers and its effects on the population.
The campaign had many public events in different cities, and it has become one of the most significant mass movement in India' history. It is supported by about 162 million people, and it has become one of the world's most massive ecological movement in the world. What is the campaign about? It calls for planting more trees in the Cauvery basin so that the rivers get rejuvenated and in turn support the entire ecological chain. The farmers will benefit from it, and it will help in reducing their woes to a large extent. Rivers will bring water for us to drink, for the crops to grow, and it will help flora and fauna to flourish.
It takes just one man to call out for help, and the support started pouring in. You can contribute as little as Rs. 42 and that will be used to plant one tree. Trees reduce pollution, they support the birds and flowers and fruits grow on them. Trees make the soil fertile. The whole ecosystem changes for good. Being far away from that movement right now, I could do very little. So I decided to contribute some amount. Being a citizen of India, I am worried about a better atmosphere and surrounding for the future generation. I care for the rivers, and I am aware of how important is water for us and for the generations to come. Recently, the city of Chennai saw great adversity and the city of Bangalore, once a Garden and lake city is struggling for clean, drinking water every single day. All the other capital cities are following the suit and are on the verge of being famished. It is high time that we all do something about it before it is too late.
