Corona go, go corona

Everyone is at home, I am sure. Corona has managed it to slow us down, to teach us mindfulness, to enjoy the day to day routine things that were quite boring in the modern, fast-paced life. We are doing our bit to save us and others from getting the Coronavirus. India is in lockdown for 21 days, and if you observe carefully, social media is abuzz with different ideas and things that people are doing in this compulsory lockdown. Various authors are offering free story reading sessions to kids; many people are keeping themselves busy with cooking, painting, reading, and entertaining the kids.

The older kids who understand it is not good to go out and play are not a problem, but toddlers who feel trapped in the house get bored at home. They can move only at home, and keeping them busy is a big challenge for the parents. Parents have to work from home and also do household chores and take care of kids. It's not impossible, but we have lost the practice of doing it. Our parents did it with ease, but we got spoiled with the availability of maids and cooks. India is blessed to have abundant people who can help us out. But in western countries like Germany, I am the bai, the caretaker, cook - all bundled into one. It's not a significant change for me staying in Germany and having to do all the things on my own. But for my friends in India, it is definitely a tough time to manage.

Social media can be an excellent medium to pass the time now. And I am not sure if it really helps. I feel lost in this sudden flood of information, remedies, things to do during the Corona pandemic. Suddenly everyone seems an expert and wants to tell others how to do things differently to avoid the infection. I think we all are doing our best to stay safe.

There are many funny videos on Youtube featuring the  "Corona go, go Corona" slogan made famous by Shri. Ramdas Athavale. There are various spoofs and gigs made on it.

I would like to cite a few of them here. What imagination and creative powers with the help of technology do people have! In these low times, one can have a hearty laugh and spend a few minutes without worrying oneself to death. It's not that the Coronavirus is waiting outside your door to catch you and infect you. One shouldn't stop living and hoping and laughing.

So, have you seen these funny videos yet?

See them, dance to their tunes at home with your kids! It's refreshing, for sure!

The dilemma

My mother-in-law left for Pune today after spending two and a half months with us in Germany. And suddenly the house seems empty without her...
